# Can't find the device when receiving files?

Please troubleshoot the problem in the following order:

  1. Check the wireless network connection to make sure the device is on the same WiFi network
  2. Receive by scanning a QR code
  3. If your router has a high load, it may not be able to find the device, please try to reboot the router
  4. on platforms iOS 14+ or iPadOS 14+, make sure the Local Network permission is enabled
  5. Close the application and try again after the above steps.

# Unable to receive files?

# Where are the received files stored?

Android: Located at /Android/data/com.hypobenthos.octofile/Downloads, you can use any file browser to access

iOS: Located in the sandbox of the application, you can use the Files app to access the folder with the app name under My iPhone

macOS: Located in the Downloads folder

Windows: Located in the sandbox of the application, You can customize the location of the download folder

# What is designated device sending?

Device specific file sending is an additional feature that simplifies the sending and receiving process and improves efficiency through push messaging and local messaging services.

# What platforms are supported by the designated device?

Currently supported are: iOS, Android, macOS, Windows

# Why can't I get push messages from the sender?

iOS Uses APNs to register and send messages, please check if you have permission to enable notifications

Android Uses `FCM' to register and send messages, please check if you have permission to enable notifications, and add the app to the whitelist launched in the background

macOS Uses APNs to register and send messages, please check if you have permission to enable notifications

Windows Uses WNS to register and send messages, please check if you have permission to enable notifications

The client must be version 2.0 or above, and the device is in the same network environment

In some countries, this feature is not available due to the inability to connect to the service provider's server.

# What is a downloadable list?

The downloadable list is an add-on feature that sends files to devices that support browsers. Such as mobile phones, tablets, computers, Kindle, etc.

If you don't have a client for Octofile on the receiving end, you can send files via this feature

# What is Quick copy text?

Quick copy text is an additional feature of the send clipboard that allows you to copy text to a nearby device that is already tied to your bound device, without having to go through many steps to send it.

Quick copy text used end-to-end encryption, and only the bound device can decrypt the data during transmission.

Quick copy text is not suitable for transferring large text data, if you need to transfer large text data please select send as file options

This feature requires that the client is 2.2.0 or above, the application is in the foreground and the device is in the same network environment.

# No devices nearby when copying text quickly

Please check if you have added each other as a common device, then restart the application and try again.

# What is Octofile For App Clips?

This is a quick way to receive files for trial users, it only includes the function of receiving files by scanning.

# How to use Octofile For App Clips?

Sending device select public send file and click Receive by App Clips to get the QR code and receive the file. If you have downloaded the full version of the app, you will receive the file directly through the app.
